Following the breakup of Sugar Babe, Taeko Ohnuki signed as a solo artist with Crown Records. Recorded between June and August 1976, the album features an all-star lineup including Tatsuro Yamashita, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Makoto Yano, and members of Tin Pan Alley (Haruomi Hosono, Shigeru Suzuki, and Tatsuo Hayashi). Widely regarded as a masterpiece of Japanese city pop, Grey Skies remains an essential recording from the genre's formative years.
