Japanese crossover/fusion is hot again! As an extension or spinoff of the global boom in city pop, Japanese fusion has surged since last year.

While honing his jazz guitar skills with Terumasa Hino's Group and Akira Ishikawa's Count Buffaloes, Kiyoshi Sugimoto also worked as a session musician, performing a variety of studio projects, including popular songs, enka, and pop music. While simultaneously pursuing a crossover sound, he released his first album as a leader in 1969. He then gradually began to pursue a crossover sound, releasing "LAMASTER" in 1978, with all tracks composed and arranged by himself. Recording members included Yasuaki Shimizu (sax), Haruo Togashi (kyd), Akira Okazawa (bass), Yuichi Tokashiki (drums), Jun Fukamachi (kyd), and Tsunehide Matsuki (guitar).
Accompanied by these talented young artists of the time, Sugimoto showcases his precise guitar playing and keen sense. This is his first re-release. (Original release: 1978)

Remastered and cut by Katsutoshi Kitamura (Mixer's Labo)
