Kahimi Karie's Third Mini Album: From Commercials to Television Anime, and Still Beloved Today

Released on Trattoria in 1996, this third mini album was co-produced by Kahimi Karie and Keigo Oyamada (Cornelius). Expanding upon Kahimi's distinctive musical world, the album features collaborations with international artists including Momus and Katerine, resulting in a richer and more adventurous sound.

The album includes some of Kahimi Karie's most recognizable songs, such as "LE ROI SOLEIL," featured in Morinaga's Hi-Chew commercial campaign, and "Humming ga Kikoeru" ("I Can Hear Humming"), the opening theme for the long-running Fuji TV anime series Chibi Maruko-chan. In particular, Humming ga Kikoeru has continued to find new audiences through YouTube, streaming platforms, and cover versions, allowing the song to be rediscovered by generations of listeners.

Filled with the free-spirited and effortlessly pop sensibility that came to define Kahimi Karie's appeal, this album played an important role in bringing her music to a wider audience through television and advertising, while further establishing her unique place in Japanese pop culture.
