Japanese crossover/fusion is hot again! Japanese fusion has been on the rise since last year, either as an extension or a spinoff of the global boom in city pop. This is the first album released by world-renowned Japanese trumpeter Hinoteru, released after moving to the emerging Who-Ring label under Toshiba EMI (now Universal Music).
Produced by the talented Lara, who produced Whitney Houston's biggest hits (four tracks), this album explores the cutting-edge danceable urban contemporary sound of New York.
Featuring a vocal track featuring Lara on lead vocals, this is Hinoteru's most accessible album of his long career, and one that even pop fans can enjoy. Meanwhile, Hino's cornet and flugenhorn, intertwined in the chorus, are captivating, creating a memorable, sultry tone. With the '80s sound rediscovered, this album is definitely worth revisiting.
