Along with the LP Nujabes from haruka nakamura's 2021 work "Nujabes PRAY Reflections," haruka nakamura released the "Reflection Eternal" 7-inch record at the end of the summer, 11 years after his death, after leaving behind masterpieces such as "Lamp" and "let go." Following the melody spun by Nujabes, haruka nakamura's prayer-like piano plays the continuation of the story.
On February 26, 2020, 10 years after the departure of musician Nujabes, a video commemorating him was projected on all the screens at Shibuya Scramble Crossing, and his music, including "Reflection Eternal," rang out. The video projected was the music video for "Lamp," which he co-wrote with haruka nakamura. And now it's 2021. Even after a long time has passed, the number of listeners around the world who crave Nujabes' music continues to grow.
In the midst of this turbulent world, Nujabes' label, Hydeout Productions, which continues to run the label, asked haruka nakamura to create a tribute album to mark the 10th anniversary of his death, saying, "I want you to move forward the 10 years where time has stopped." First, in the summer, the music video and 7-inch record for "Reflection Eternal" were released, which received a great response. As the culmination of this project, the album "Nujabes PRAY Reflections" will finally be released.
haruka nakamura plays the beautiful melodies spun by Nujabes with a new interpretation based on piano and guitar. The two musicians' music has been fused together to create a work that has been sublimated to a new horizon. The album includes Nujabes' representative songs such as Final View, Horizon, flowers, and Another Reflection, a waltz version of Reflection Eternal, and a piano solo born from the motif of "let go," which can only be heard on this album, and is sure to be moving for listeners. Guest musician Gen Tanabe (orbe) plays on the flute and electric guitar that belonged to Nujabes. Maika (baobab) provides a folklore sound with fiddle and singing, deepening the worldview of the album.
The jacket was commissioned to Cheryl D. McClure, the artist who worked on Hydeout Productions' "2nd collection". The cover is an impressive design that resembles the coastline of Kamakura, which Nujabes loved. It also includes a rare liner notes booklet with production notes by Nakamura himself explaining all the songs. The photos are by photographer TKC, who also shot the music video. The design is by the up-and-coming designer Suzuki Takahisa. The cover was completed with a careful homage to the style of Nujabes' previous works.
The music travels through time. A beautiful melody spun by Nujabes. Following that melody, Haruka Nakamura's piano, which is like a prayer, plays the continuation of the story. This is not a so-called cover album, but a new piece of music by haruka nakamura, inspired by the melodies of Nujabes. A reflective mental landscape. A prayer that transcends the present flows through it. We can confirm his presence in the beautiful things that will always be there.
